Pedro Colon, age 84, of Pennsauken, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Gervasio Colon and Maria Quiles in Cidra, Puerto Rico in 1932. Pedro met the love of his life Maria in Camden, NJ, and have been married for nearly 60 years. They had six beautiful children and they were the pride of Pedro's life. He was a provider, a businessman and always wanted the best in life for his family. He was the owner of one of the first Hispanic Grocery stores in Camden, NJ, "Colon Food Market" for over 14 years where he was known for putting trust in the public by providing credit to families in need and sometimes personally delivering food to their homes when they were in need. The fond memories of the Colon store remains until this day in the hearts and minds of so many who grew up in Camden and surrounding area. Pedro was also a professional dry wall taper and one of the first to self-train and use a special taping tool known as the Bazooka. His kind heart and generous soul will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Pedro is predeceased by his sisters, Edna Ramos and Marcelina Quiles and his grandson, Jimmy Justin Degros. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Colon; six children, Marisa Vigo and her husband Mario, Rudy Colon, Peter Colon, Wilfred "Fred" Colon, Linda August and her husband Victor, and Heriberto "Eddie" Colon and his wife Nancy; grandchildren, Mario, Jr., Andres, Joshua, Jovani, Jonathan, Yasmin, Noemi, Daniel, Gabriel, Zoraida, Delia, Jessica, Erica, Alexa, and Desiree; and 11 great grandchildren; his sister Maria Mercedes Ramos and his brother Humberto Colon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 5:30pm-8:30pm and Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 9:30am-10:30am at Inglesby & Sons Funeral Home, located at 2426 Cove Rd., Pennsauken, NJ 08109. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mary, Queen of All Saints (formerly St. Cecilia's) at 4824 Camden Ave., Pennsauken at 11am.
