Joseph Johnson, Jr., 101, of Mount Laurel, NJ, Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 31, 2021. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 2, 1920 to the late Marie (nee Povacer) and Joseph Johnson, Sr. Joseph married Ella "May" and together raise a beautiful family. He served in the United States Army during World War II, was stationed in Italy and was a tank driver. Upon return from the war, he worked as a metal machine operator at R.M. Hollingshead Corporation in Camden, NJ. He was a Senior Warden at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Camden and a Warden at the Church of the Good Sheppard in Berlin, NJ. Joseph was active in the Cramer Hill Boys Club and was a manager and coach for many years. He was an avid Phillies fan and completely devoted to his family. He was a kind, gentle soul with a sense of humor and a sharp dresser. He will be truly missed. Joseph is predeceased by: his wife, Ella "May" Johnson (nee Morris) and his parents, Marie (nee Povacer) and Joseph Johnson, Sr. Joseph leaves behind to cherish his memories: his children, Elaine Panelli (Philip), Joseph R. Johnson (Anita), James R. Johnson (Loris), and Mary E. Brown (the late Wayne); his grandchildren, Philip Panelli (Maggie), Terri-Lynn Clements, Joseph Panelli (Chantell), Jason Johnson (Gayle), Jared Johnson (Tracy), Michele L. Brown, Amy L. Lindquist (Victor), Audrey Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, and Joseph T. Johnson; and great grandchildren, John T. Clements, David R. Clements, Madison Panelli, Jordyn R. Johnson, Noah E. Johnson, JD Johnson, Emily M. Lindquist, Victor A Lindquist III, Joseph R. Panelli, Michael P. Panelli, Danielle Sanchez, and DJ Sanchez. Family and friends are welcomed to his viewing on 10:00am - 12:00pm, followed by a service at 12:00pm on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Inglesby and Sons Funeral Home, 2426 Cove Road, Pennsauken, NJ 08109. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
